On August 9, 2018 Massimo Cavalletti will make his debut at the Arena of Verona as Escamillo in Carmen, in a production by Hugo de Ana and under the musical direction of Francesco Ivan Ciampa. He will share the stage with Anna Goryachova as Carmen, Francesco Meli as Don José and Serena Gamberoni as Micaëla.
The Tuscan baritone has already performed the role of the Spanish Toreador in many prestigious opera houses and festivals, including the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Vienna State Opera, the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona, the Zurich Opera House and the Salzburg Festival. In Italy he previously sang the role at the Teatro alla Scala.
