Lescaut in “Manon Lescaut” at La Scala

On March 31, 2019, Massimo Cavalletti will return to La Scala in a new production of Manon Lescaut by David Pountney, singing Lescaut. Riccardo Chailly will conduct. Maria José Siri will sing Manon, Marcelo Álvarez / Roberto Aronica Des Grieux, and Carlo Lepore Geronte. There will be nine performances, running through April 27, 2019.

Cavalletti has sung Lescaut at the world’s most esteemed opera houses. Highlights include debuting the Richard Eyre production at the Metropolitan Opera, which was broadcast in HD internationally, as well as appearing as Lescaut at the Deutsche Oper.

Upcoming engagements include the premiere of David McVicars’ new production of I masnadieri at La Scala, for which Cavalletti will sing Francesco. Later on in the season, he will reprise that role in the same production at the Savonlinna Opera Festival.
